ROOSTERS BACK SET FOR UK SWITCH

Paul Momirovski is reportedly closing in on a deal which will see him head to the UK Super League and link up with the Leeds Rhinos, according to the WWOS.

It will be Momirovski’s fifth club in six years after stints with the Tigers, Storm, Panthers and most recently, the Roosters.

The 27-year-old only played in three games for the Chooks in 2023, including the semi final loss to the Storm.

Something had to give among the Roosters’ backline depth with Knights winger Dom Young to join an already crowded room next season, and it appears Momirovski is the first casualty.

KNIGHTS DUO’S POTENTIAL EXIT

The Knights could reportedly be losing two key stars, with Daniel Saifiti and Jayden Brailey both potentially being allowed to leave the club.

According to the SMH, Newcastle powerbrokers reportedly considered moving on their gun prop earlier in the year.

The Knights were reportedly looking to restructure their salary cap, with Saifiti reportedly earning a whopping $880,000 in 2024.

Saifiti could reportedly be moved on to free up cap space, with multiple clubs monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, the Dragons are reportedly considering making a play for Brailey’s services a dummy-half.

That is according to WWOS, who are reporting with the emergence of Phoenix Crossland could see Brailey depart.

The hooker is contracted until the end of 2025, but incoming coach Shane Flanagan wants to bolster his No.9 stocks.

“He’s someone we would definitely be interested in,” a source told the publication.

Meanwhile, rival clubs can also negotiate with Crossland come November 1, with his current contract expiring at the end of the 2024 season.

UPDATE: Flanagan has denied the report from the WWOS, but has admitted he’d “love to have a player like Brailey” at the Dragons.

“I don’t know whether someone has seen me with him or something like that and they’ve put two and two together but he’s on contract at the Knights,” Flanagan told 2GB.

“He’s had a tough run (with injury),” he said.

“I’d love to have a player like Jayden Brailey but he’s on contract and we’ll leave it at that.”

THOMPSON’S UK RETURN

Bulldogs prop Luke Thompson is reportedly set to return to the Super League to join Wigan Warriors from 2024 onwards.

That is according to The Daily Telegraph, who are reporting the offer received by the prop was too good to turn down.

The 28-year-old reportedly wanted to remain in Australia after a tumultuous stint with Canterbury-Bankstown club came to an end after the 2023 season.

Thompson joined the Bulldogs ahead of the 2020 season, but managed only 42 games across his four years at the Belmore club.

In 2023, he didn’t take the field until Round 24 due to a string of injuries.

It previously emerged several NRL clubs were keen on his services, including the Roosters and Dragons, but instead he will return to England.
